Yasmin Hurston Cornelius Yasmin Cornelius is the Vice President of Community Affairs at L+M Development Partners and C+C Apartment Management where she is responsible for leading, planning and executing the community relations program for over 20,000 units. In addition, Yasmin oversees and coordinates engagement with stakeholders in all L+M/C+C communities. By working with community leaders and government officials on behalf of L+M/C+C, she facilitates job creation, support for local non-profits and the creation of needs-based programs for the community. Yasmin has over 20 years of experience in the private and public sectors. Yasmin has worked for the New York State Senator Conference Leader, Office of the Manhattan Borough President and served as District Manager of Community Board 10 in Central Harlem. Yasmin was also the Deputy Director of the New York City program of Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), a national nonprofit organization, which provides financial and technical assistance to over 70 neighborhood-based nonprofit community development corporations (CDCs) working to improve housing and economic conditions in distressed neighborhoods.
In addition to government and community affairs, Yasmin has extensive experience in the media industry. Her media experience reflects her commitment to providing meaningful information to the general public on critical issues that have an impact on urban communities for over 10 years.
For eight years, she was the co-host/co-producer of the public access talk radio show (WHCR 90.3 FM), Harlem 411, where she has interviewed a myriad of nationwide leaders and guests. She has also done guest spots on the WWRL’s Morning Show and All Things New York. Her directorial debut was ‘Come See About Me’, a documentary about children’s personal views on violence in their community. After clearly being bitten by the media bug, Yasmin launched SAY YAS Productions LLC., a multi-media production company with a focus on creating radio shows, blogs, podcasts and films in May 2017. SAY YAS is the parent company for OnPoint! Experience: a weekly online radio show and the weekly Single Mom Chronicles Blog.
In 2016, she was elected New York State Committeewoman for the 70th Assembly District in Central Harlem. Her current affiliations include: NAACP Mid Manhattan Branch Life Member, New Jersey Minority Alliance, Bradhurst Merchants Association, Friends of Brownsville Parks, Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, 125th Street Business Improvement District and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, New York Alumnae Chapter. Yasmin holds a BA in psychology from The City College of New York. She is also a graduate of Fiorello H. LaGuardia H.S. of the Arts.
Yasmin and her sons, Tchiyuka Jr. and Ajani, reside in Harlem.
